Crawling, Cruising and Grabbing – You’re wee one is off to the races and exploring the world. This phase is often most difficult on your family dog. Exploring everything in the house, including the dog’s ear, tail and fur is very common. It can be particular strenuous on the child-dog relationship and it’s one that takes a watchful parent to create safety and management systems to ensure that Fido and child’s relationship develops in harmony.

Runnning, Tripping, Chasing and Falling– The toddler phase was described to me by a friend as “you feel like superman, as your primary job is to save this little person’s life every two minutes.” Toddlers often become confident, but not necessarily coordinated on their tiny feet – topsy turvy and totally distracted makes this age particularly strenuous for dogs who are often tripped on, stepped on, and chased by noisy play toys.

Dog Lessons with Children – Sometimes it helps to hear it from someone other than mom and dad. You have a variety of life lessons to teach and it can often be fun for a child to learn from a new and novel source. We are happy to work with both you AND your child to teach them appropriate dog skills.
